Life's Problem

Okay.

So maybe you agree that you were created by God.
But you're still not so sure what you were created for.
Or convinced that God is personally interested in your life.

After all,
life can seem pretty chaotic, pain-filled,
and messed up a lot of the time.

Was life supposed to be like this?

No! The Bible teaches that in the beginning, God created everything. All things were created by Him, for His glory and good pleasure. And all that God made was good. He intended for the man and woman He created to live in relationship with Him in perfect peace and contentment. It was Paradise!

But then something happened
that changed everything--

for all time and
all people...
including you!

Sin entered the world. Here's how the Bible explains it. The first people God created were named Adam and Eve. God gave them the ability to rule together in the Garden of Eden over everything He had made. They were given total freedom to do as they pleased, with ONE exception. They were forbidden to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. (God alone, as the all-wise, all-powerful, present-everywhere Creator and Sustainer of the Universe has dominion over such knowledge.) And God was fair. He told Adam and Eve in advance what the penalty would be if they disobeyed Him. He told them they would "die" if they ate the fruit from that tree.

The rest is history. When they disobeyed God and decided to eat from that tree, they sinned against Him. They became "sinners". And just as God had warned them, they died spiritually because they were separated from God's presence, no longer able to have intimate fellowship with Him. Physically they became subject to disease, decay, and ultimately death.

That's what sin does.
It separates us from God
spiritually,
and causes us to die
physically.

Sin is the reason for all the bad things in the world. Greed. Lying. Murder. Hatred. Adultery. Abuse. Selfishness. Envy. Arrogance. Wickedness. Perversion. Since we are Adam's blood relatives, we inherited his sin nature. That means that every human being has a sin nature and therefore sins. The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Because God is holy, he cannot tolerate sin. He cannot even look upon it. So we have a real dilemma! God is holy; man is sinful. Man was designed to have a relationship with God, but man's sin ruptured that relationship. Man was designed to live forever, but sin has brought about the certainty of death. That's why the Bible tells us that "the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23) In other words, the payment we receive for our sin is death.

So, now what?

Isn't there a way out of this  hopeless situation?

Yes!!!
