Suggested Bible Readings
For the average reader, five chapters of Scripture each day will take about thirty minutes. This, of course, depends not only upon reading speed but how reflective and thoughtful a person is as he or she reads. The point is to spend thirty minutes a day in the Word of God. For some people, that may mean only one chapter or time spent all in one book.

It is a good idea to keep a notebook at your side and enter some observations. Permit me to share an example with you from my own notes recently taken while reading through the Gospel of Mark:
Jan. 10, 2006 “Trembling or Laughing?
Mark 5:33 “The woman…came and fell at his feet and trembling with fear…and told him the whole truth.” Mark 5:40 “But they laughed at him!”
How interesting! The sickly, humble and broken woman comes afraid yet with faith. She is rewarded because His power is present and touches her! But the proud and arrogant men who know everything laugh at Jesus! What were they thinking? Jesus calls to the little girl who had died [not to them] and she comes out! One can only wonder what those who had laughed thought at that moment! POINT: Better to be a broken woman or man of faith than to be a proud mocker of the Son of God! Amen & PTL!
I put in the date and give the entry a title. I include the verse or verses and then make a few observations. Occasionally, I go back and read previous pages and pray about and/or consider the entries. This helps me see progress insights in my spiritual growth.

Here are some suggestions for your 30/30 reading by type of book. The Biblical genres [categories of writing] differ considerably. This method touches on each of them on a daily basis. But there are certainly other ways of doing the reading. My only hope is that God’s people will increase in their appetite for His Word! As evangelical Christians, we believe that the Bible is fully inspired and without error in all matters of faith and practice. The Bible is, as has been said “The words of God in the words of man.” Blessings as you read!
